Collaborative Infrastructure Programme (CIP) Working Group

Established following recommendations from the Lowcroft Report, the CIP Working Group brings together key stakeholders to ensure sustainable, long-term solutions for street infrastructure. The group is focused on delivering the right treatments for footways and carriageways, through a collaborative and informed approach.

Objectives of the CIP Working Group:

Minimise the carbon footprint through low-maintenance, durable design
The group meets regularly to align on best practices and to drive forward effective, environmentally conscious street solutions. Meeting minutes from the CIP Working Group will be published here to ensure transparency and ongoing engagement.

  • Retain existing street trees while maintaining infrastructure integrity
  • Extend the life of footway and carriageway pavements
  • Prevent damage from tree roots and reduce future disruption
  • Protect tree roots during construction, as far as reasonably practicable
  • Minimise the carbon footprint through low-maintenance, durable design

The group meets regularly to align on best practices and to drive forward effective, environmentally conscious street solutions. Meeting minutes from the CIP Working Group will be published here to ensure transparency and ongoing engagement.
